Named Areas of Akaros

Island of Noit: This foggy little island marks the southern most point in the in the empire of the King of Akaros, and while this island was little to offer in the ways of agriculture or resource it has one very important thing, the Dedication Temple. The only Dedication Temple that has been open continually since the time of the great calamity. Many people risk it all coming here, and many people lose it all in the process. Still if you should make it to the island there is quite a bit to see from the bars Like the “Brass Monkey” to the large estates on the outside of town, but most people could careless about the city itself the come to be dedicated. The Temple is in a hilly region of the island. On the inside of the temple there is a stonewall that encloses the inner sanctum filled with mist. The outer temple is dressed up much like the surrounding hills. In fact if not for the many well-beaten paths and the constant stream of people walk to and from the temple one could easy walk past it never even notice that it was there. Other details worth noting: The fog that surrounds the island comes from the temple and never seems to lighten up. Noit was also become a major port for Asheri ships since the Ganian embargo was put into place. Many Asheri ships unload their cargo here and then load it onto ships bound for Corner, Sungan, and Southdale.

Yferlin Mountains: This Stretch of mountains are the tallest and steepest in all of Aeterna. As such, they tend to attract a lot of people who don’t wish to be disturbed. There are several known monasteries of monks and Nuns here; there is also an Earth Tabernacle at the top of Mount. Yleagth. Most people who come here are dedicated in Earth and wish to better understand the element that they are now tied too. The tabernacle is also open to anyone just wishing to get a way from it all. As for the mountains, themselves they coved in snow all year round and few plants can survive here aside from a few grass and wild flowers. On the upside this also means few Ogres live here. Other details worth noting: The Yferlin Mountains are composed of 76 peaks with Mount. Hjarer being the tallest mountain with a height of 43,654 ft. No non-magic user has ever climbed this Mountain.

Ice Valley: This glacier is said to hold an evil giant beneath it. Legend says that he is being punished by the creator for his wicked acts many ages ago. This being said few who ever come to Ice Valley ever find the giant instead they mostly find white. White hills, white fishers, White Mountains, and white monsters. Yes, Monsters the white Rous who diet mostly consist of ice rats, but they are always looking for bigger game. Few people choose to live here although since the banning of magic in asheri, many Asherien Water mages like to use this area to prefect their ice spells. Other details worth noting: Many people get sun burnt here because of the large amount of sunlight reflecting off the snow, and while it is almost always sunny here, blizzard can come up without waning. Normal tempters is around 0 degrees, and during a blizzard tempters of –70’s or colder are not uncommon.

Thole: This Bottomless pile is where it is said that the great disaster happen that marks the beginning of the recorded era of Gran Adageros History. The bottom of this hole has never reached though a great many have tried. The sides are reported to be smooth as glass and hard as diamonds. Other details worth noting: Thole has a Radius of 100 miles, and light cannot be seen below 100 feet.

Thole Canyon: This giant fissure was created at the same time that Thole was created, and is a result of the same incident. And while it is not bottomless the few sky dedicated that have dared to fly into the crack say that the wall are almost vertical all the way down and perfectly smooth like Thole. The bottom is filled with rocks of all size. Other details worth noting: There is only one Bridge between Bargra and Sungan Tahr bridge. The only other way is to walk around or of course fly. Also, While Thole canyon does go all the way to the sea; the seawater does not flow in.

Tahr Beach: Is the only white sand beach in all of Gran Adageros. It is located off the city of Sungan and is very popular place for rich and poor a like to get away from it all. The Beach has also served as inspiration for countless artist over the years, but on the flip side of that many young star-crossed lovers have chosen this place to leave this world for greater thing. It is said that many young ghost still walk these beaches waiting for those better things.

Lake Akar: This is the Home of the City of Akaros, which rest upon its waves. The lake was an ideal place for such a city because of it has a level bottom and average dept of 30 ft. Before being the home of the city the lake was home to a small royal castle on a small island in the middle of the lake, where the royal families of Akaros would go to get a way form it all. So, when the Sliverblades, Water and Earth Dedicated, came asking to build a city on the lake the King had a bit of doubt. However, after hearing the plains for the city the king argued to it, on the condition that the old Palace is the center of the new city, and this is why the capital was moved to Akaros.

Vagrant Hills: Surrounding lake Evod and protecting it from the Ice Valley the serve am a gatekeeper against the elements. The hills are much smaller and much older than the Yferlin Mountains, and only the Side facing Ice Valley are covered with ice, the rest are covered in green almost all the way up to the peek. It is quite beautiful and there are many small villages, and several Smoke towers. This area also serves as the permanent for many Sliverblades and Air dedicated.

Evod North: connects the East Sea to the Bay of Stars. A group people dedicated in Water and Earth, and the Sliverblades made the canal from Lake Evod to the bay of stars. The Water dedicated held back the water while the Earth dedicated cut the cannel, and the Sliverblades build control devises so that ships could sail from the Bay of Stars to the East Sea. Other details worth noting: commutation between the two ends is done by series of smoke towers the use smoke signals to communicate. There also Carrier Pigeons for messages to important for smoke signal, but the down side to carrier pigeon is that they take a long to get a message form end to end.

Desert of Niklew: Few who have walked in his land have ever come back to speak of what they have seen. The reason was unknown for years until one man came back with a story about a giant behemoth and how it killed the rested of this party, lucky he escape back to Ciwa without mark on him. While few believed him even less were now willing to go into desert after this new revelation. The Desert itself has been know to have temps above 200 degrees during the day and get well below 0 at night. There is One Mountain at the north end of the Desert that is home to a Fire tabernacle much like the Earth Tabernacle in the Yferlin Mountains. Here those who are dedicated in can fire come to learn more about the heat and how to canal it, but there is only one way to get there and that is by the sea. Other Details worth noting: The Desert is home to one of the temple where in the days before the great calamity people were dedicated. The few records that survive say that the temple was a large white dome inlayed with animal figures. The dome is surrounded a half circle of Greek Pliers on the north sided and a lone 70 by 30 foot doorway on the south side. Which it is said to have fallen from the heavens on the day that the temple was forged.

Eko Woods: His hilly wood is home to two kinds of people Lumberjacks and gem hunters. The Lumberjacks only go to the woods edge to collect their bounty. But the Gem hunter must go deep into the woods where are fields of gems which seem to grow out of the grown, but they are always shifting from places to place thus there is always a need for Gems hunter. Other details worth noting: The last of Akaros’s Dedication temple is just north of The Eko Wood, but like the Gems it is said to shift from one place to anther at the end of every day. So, the temple can’t be found after dark. The only parts of the temple that can be seen are the twelve pillar of lighting. That surrounds a large black storm cloud in the center.

Aitahk Planes: This fertile Valley is the home the breadbasket of Akaros. The many farms provide food for all the people in Akaros and then some. This largely due to the high number of artesian springs, which provide large amounts of water to the farmer even in the driest year. Other Details worth noting: There is Sky Tabernacle here in this flat plain where the wind blow harder and more often than any other place in Gran Adageros, making it perfect to train how to control the wind.

Unnamed Areas of Akaros

Bay of rocks: This is the Northern Bay of Akaros between Eko Woods and Desert of Niklew gets its name because the dark water conceals many large rocks. This is why there is no port north of Akaros. Many ship have tried to sail in and out of the bay over the years but most end up sinking. Of course the bay does get some traffic but mostly small fishing boat don’t sink as deep into the water and therefore are less likely to hit the rocks.

Bay of stars: This bay gets its name from the hundreds of jellyfish that light the surface of the water on the first moonless night of every New Year. This port is also the third busiest trade area in all of Gran Adagreros only after Noit and Corner. The bay also service as the gateway to Evod North

Named Areas of Gania

Press Canal: Is the last still water before hitting the rough waters of the middle sea. It is used by ships wishing to go from Gania to Ioty, and while this a very profitable rout, but it is fill with many risks, the first being the great rocks sit of ether side of the mouth of the canal. It is said that one out of every five ships fails to make to Ioty and those who do make it chose not to go back the same way.

Evisis Woods: This very dense wood is well know for the excellent Lumber and the trees that can regrow to full height in a matter of weeks. Though the reason for this is unknown, it is widely believe to be product of Elf Magic. Inside the woods little is known because most people who venture in don’t come back. The woods are crawling Fiero Wolves, which are known to kill anyone in the woods on site day or night. There are Also Elves in these woods, which don’t really care much for humans, but at the same time, they don’t bear them any ill will. That being said it is very rare to see an Elf outside the woods and even rarer inside. Other details worth noting: There is a temple in the heart of the Evisis Wood, and it one the most dangerous to get too. Because first, you must get though the Woods, and then you have to fight are kinds of evil in the temple. The Temple in set in the heart of a Great oak. This oak stands 1000 ft tall and had a radius of 150 feet. It stands in a great clearing of green grass, but don’t be fooled by the looks even this is unsafe to all who enter.

Wolf trail: this nasty 30-mile wide stretch of land between The Evisis woods and Atol lake is one of the worst of places to be in all of Gran Adagreros because it is controlled by the Clan Fiero, the Demi Wolves which run the trail every night looking for humans and other prey. If you should be so unfortunate to be on wolf trail at night, death is all but certain.

Summer Pass: This pass is the only way through the Jade Rigge from Gania to Xellos. However, it is considered one of the safest roads in all of Gania because it is heavily traveled by and Solders and weapons merchants alike, making it a very unfriendly place for Wolves, Ogres, and other monsters.

Atol River: The Atol River cuts though the Jade Rigge to reach the Middle Sea. It is said that to be on this river it to be on you’re way to death. Because at the end of this rive lays the Drolstorm. Many fishermen have gone to their deaths on this river, and in tribute to these men and women there is a monument to the brave fishermen of Lake Atol at the mouth of the River. It is said to bring tears to the eyes of all that see it.

Atol Lake: Atol is the primary source of fish for the city of Forestre. Many of the residents of city like to take out small boats built in Forestre, sail them across the lake, and then carry the boats to Gania. Most of the other people who use the lake are farmers on the Gania side that use the boats so they fish during the mouths between harvest and planting. Other details worth noting: there are many small islands in the lake where it is said the great knights of Gania are buried

Jade Rigge: Jade Rigge goes from Press cannel and almost all the way to Mangens Peninsula. The Mountains get their name from there dark green color. While the mountains aren’t very tall or steep, most people choose to avoid this part of the world. Because they swarming with Gores. These spiders like creators are territorial and scare off intruders with their appearance, but they will kill anything that threatens them. Other things worth noting: Them mountains are said to be over flowing with Ogres Gold stolen over the ages, hidden in only the deepest tunnels where even the Ogres fear to go.

Madain Pass: This Pass was named for so long forgotten heroine who was the first to brave the Ogres find a way though the Tonday canyons. This laborith had claimed many souls and the desert had claimed even many more that was the reason that people wanted to find a pass through the canyons. But I regress after finding the pass she spent years teaching other the way though the pass, and even lead a raid or two to drive back the Ogres. On the day of her death it was said that all of Gania weeps for the lost of one of the bravest and noblest woman in the history of Gran Adageros. The pass in now controlled by the royal guard of Gania. Which goes though the pass at less twice a day depending on Ogre active, but the Ogres control large parts canyons. Other details worth noting: There is legend that says that the day that the Heroines died a group of Eight elementist came and took her to the Island of gold at the center of the Drolstorm to learn all there is know and to wait until she is needed.

Tonday Desert: Is the southern most deserts in all of Gania. It is waterless wasteland with no planets, animals, or any other life for that matter. At least that is how it appears on the surface. The fact is there are a great many hRittir that live here underground; where there is water and planet live. But don’t hope for help from these Demi Humans because they scour the desert everyday for the bodies of those who dare to go into the desert and didn’t quite may it. There are canyons on the north end of the Desert, which Madain Pass snakes though. The rest of the Desert is just dunes and sand. Other details worth noting: On the south end of the Desert, there is the southern most temple of Gania. The Temple sits on 900 ft tall mesa with the only way up being a track no wider than a man is. The top of the mesa has a black surface with nine white stone along the out side edge. The Temple itself is gray with four watchtowers and gray wall between each tower with a small four by two door on each side.

Mangens Peninsula: This is the southern California of Gran Adageros it has pleasant tempters all year round. The Peninsula is gently rolling covered with grass and palm trees. The costs are covered with beautiful beaches where the residents take advantage at ever opportunity. Other Details worth noting: Most of the goods from Akaros come though here before going to the rest of Gania.

Islands of the Burning Crescent: These islands are home to the only Active volcano in Gran Adagreros. Mount. Vesper on the Main Island. The Volcano is very active erupting ever few weeks but most of the time the lava flows harmlessly into the sea. These islands are home to many refuges; there is a small Asherien Colony that is made up of people from all over Asheri. On some of the smaller islands, there are criminals, Akaros refuges, and even a few ousted royalty families.

Drolstorm: This Strom has been around as long as any one can remember. And while it does increase and decrease in size in always seems to be hampering navigation in the northern part of the middle sea. At it largest in has been reported to be constantly raining it Xellos and Bargra, but it has not been that large for several generations. Other details worth noting: Only two ships have ever sailed straight though the heart of the Drolstorm. The first was caring the King of Akaros who was looking for island of gold and jewels that is said to be at the center of the DrolStorm, but the king was lucky to come back with his life. And he was later heard saying that he never seen any island of gold.

The Second was a fisherman who was bet by the same king that if he could get from Ioty to Corner though the Drolstorm he could have any city in all of Akaros. So, the man said yes and left Ioty with his boat. After several mouths, the man came out on the other side and while the man was not in the best of shape, he was alive and won the bet. That is why the southern most city in continental Akaros is called Sungan for Chester Sungan who spent the rest of his life as mayor of the city he won.

Unnamed Areas of Gania

Geryon: is the island of the north Gania. Most of the island is covered with short grass and the occasional trees. The island was the royal burial ground for the Kings of Gania until the days of the city of magic. During the days of the city of magic dogs were enchanted to find people who had been dedicated, but not joined the guilds. However, these dogs escaped and in the wilds of Geryon, they devolved into black wolves, which killed every person on the island. Shortly afterwards the king sent a small group of people to watch over the temple. These gardens watched over the temple until the island was cleared of the wolves last year. The island now again under the compete control of the King of Gania. Other details worth noting: The temple is setup like a compass with each of the four small temples each pointed in one of the Carnal Dictions. It at the center of these there is a main temple, which is pyramid with the corners pointing in the Carnal Dictions. There is only one door on the northeast side of the temple. Around the temple site, there are seven circles of mounds. This is where the kings and queens of Gania are buried. That is why the whole island is considered holy ground.

Bay of Calm: This bay has gotten it name form many sailors who after sailing across the rough waters of the middle sea found calm and peace her. In years when the Drolstorm is small, this bay is full of ships sailing between Gania and Ioty. Besides that, there are always fishermen, not the mention the small royal fleet which Gania boast is stationed here. Other Details worth noting: On the southeast side of the bay by the Port of Gania there is a Water tabernacle, and while the other tabernacles emphasize understand the more chaotic parts of each element, this tabernacle is used to find the clam which is very important for water users.

Green Sea: This is the Southern sea of Gania. It gets it green color from the large concentration of algae, but its not slimy its more like crystal water with the green tint. In fact, it is a tradition of many of the sailors departing from Southdale to drink a glass of the Green seawater before leaving for good luck.

Volsung, this is amazing! Wow, seriously, you've done everyone a great favor on this board, and just in time for a revamp!

Do you mind if I edit it a bit, and use it on the main pages?

So much detail... Man, you deserve an award or something! I'll try to think of something...

Feel free. I'm just glad it looks respectable.

As far as awards go you should be the one getting an award. The site is Looking better than ever.

Wow Volsung! Thanks a lot. This will really come in handy. I just wish I had known all that before I started my story. It would have helped me greatly.

It would be nice if someone with good knowledge of Asheri did the same.

Fantastic Volsung! This is quite amazing and helpful for those that are new to Gran Adageros. Seriously, the level of detail is incredible and the history is very well explained.

Three cheers for Volsung!

Yes, very well done. If only I'd read this before writing about that temple in the woods. Good thing I didn't describe the outside of it.

Just one thing: you didn't mention the Arboreal Prowler as one of the dangers in the Evisis Woods. He kills people in there all the time, though we'd all like to think he's a good guy. In fact, he kills almost as many people in the Woods as the wolves do. I don't really care that much about it, so it's not like you have to change it. I just wanted to mention it.

Okay, I'll shut up now.

The truth be told, I Left the Evisis Woods a little vague to avoid stepping on the toes of any the Elves. Since the Geography of The Woods would affects them more had most other characters would be affected by a general geography of their areas.

But if there are any of other details I looked over I would be more than happy to amend the Geography and Lore.
